Residential Mural. Newcastle.
Diff Riff.
Commissioned residential mural in Cardiff Heights, Newcastle. My approach was to create a design that you can view from various vantage points from within the interior and exterior of this home.
Both inside and out you can experience the art through many windows from the interior and garden passageways of the exterior.
Engaging with a murals environment and surrounding architecture helped me consider more than just painting a presentable piece. This had to be personal to the home owner and share a great sense of place to its surrounding environment.
My aim was that this piece needed to be enjoyed from all angles of the home and various distances.
From a distant view, natural patterns documented from this region to create visual form are in view. Closer to the murals surface, various minimal textures can be experienced.
All gestural marks and textures were created using tools and implements such as brooms, leaves from the garden and habitual brushes and rollers.
